Japanese MPs approve first extra budget
10/05/2011
The Japanese Parliament has approved the first Cabinet-submitted extra budget of 50 billion dollars.

The money is due to be spent on doing away with the consequences of the March natural disaster, namely the collection and removal of wreckage, the construction of makeshift dwellings for the evacuees, the rebuilding of roads, seaports and other infrastructure components, and also the provision of aid for small- and medium-sized businesses. The families that have lost their breadwinner are entitled to get 60,000 dollars each as part of the programme.

The Japanese Cabinet plans to approve another two similar budgets before the end of the year.

In all, spending on the purpose may exceed 122 billion dollars.
